LA Woman Latrice Robinson ID’d As Victim In Wednesday Rapides Parish Fatal Crash

RAPIDES PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — Latrice Robinson, 44, of Marksville, Louisiana, was killed in a fatal two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Rapides Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.

Robinson was identified as the driver of a 2015 Ford Focus involved in a head-on collision on Louisiana Highway 1 at Tyler Road on January 28, 2026. Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to the crash at approximately 10:48 a.m. Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining fatal injuries.

According to the preliminary investigation, Robinson was traveling southbound on Louisiana Highway 1 when, for reasons still under investigation, her vehicle crossed the centerline into the northbound travel lane. Troopers said the Ford Focus entered the opposite lane in an attempt to pass multiple vehicles.

The Focus then collided head-on with a northbound 2016 Infiniti QX8. The force of the crash caused extensive damage to both vehicles and prompted an immediate emergency response from Louisiana State Police and local first responders.

Troopers confirmed Robinson was properly restrained at the time of the crash. Despite those safety measures, she suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and a passenger inside the Infiniti QX8 were also restrained and sustained moderate injuries. Both individuals were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Their current conditions have not been released.

Louisiana State Police reported that routine toxicology samples were obtained from the involved drivers and have been submitted for analysis, which is standard procedure in fatal crashes. Officials emphasized that the results are pending and that the investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities have not indicated whether any charges will be filed at this time, noting that all contributing factors are still being examined. Troopers continue to analyze evidence from the scene, vehicle positions, and roadway conditions.

Louisiana Highway 1 is a major north-south route through central Louisiana, frequently traveled by commuters and commercial traffic. Troopers temporarily restricted traffic in the area while the scene was cleared and investigators documented the crash.

In a statement, Louisiana State Police reminded motorists that distracted and inattentive driving remains one of the leading causes of serious and fatal crashes across the state.

“A lapse in one’s awareness can have deadly consequences,” state police said, urging drivers to remain alert, avoid distractions, and exercise caution when attempting to pass other vehicles.

The Louisiana State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. No additional information has been released at this time.

Anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to contact Louisiana State Police Troop E as the investigation continues.
