Wine Expert Shelby Kuyawa ID’d As Fifth Victim In ME Fatal Jet Crash

BANGOR, ME. (THECOUNT) — Shelby Kuyawa, 34, has been identified as the fifth victim killed after a private jet crashed during takeoff and erupted into flames at Bangor International Airport on Sunday, according to a report by The Daily Mail.

Kuyawa, a wine professional and sommelier, was among six people aboard a Bombardier Challenger jet that crashed shortly after departing the airport. Federal authorities have confirmed that the aircraft went down during takeoff at approximately 7:45 p.m. local time. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

According to the Daily Mail, Kuyawa was traveling as part of a planned business trip connected to a luxury travel venture known as Beyond. The invitation-only company reportedly offers high-end travel experiences, including international destinations and curated culinary programs.

Sources cited by the publication said Kuyawa was participating in the trip alongside other hospitality professionals, including top Hawaiian chef Nick Mastrascusa, who was previously identified as one of the victims. Mastrascusa was an executive vice president of hospitality for the Beyond venture.

Also confirmed dead in the crash were Tara Arnold, 46, an attorney associated with Texas-based law firm Arnold & Itkin; Jacob Hosmer, 47, the pilot; and Shawna Collins, an event planner. One additional victim remains publicly unidentified.

The aircraft was owned by Arnold & Itkin Law, according to prior reports. The Bangor Police Department said emergency crews remained on scene for several hours following the crash due to the extent of the fire and debris field.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the condition of the remains or the sequence of events leading up to the crash. Officials have stated that the investigation remains ongoing.

The identities of all victims will be formally confirmed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner once next-of-kin notifications are completed.
