NASHVILLE, TN. (THECOUNT.COM) — Markeith Miller, 42, was killed as a front seat passenger in a crash early Friday morning on Old Hickory Boulevard at Zermatt Avenue in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, according to authorities.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol and Nashville Police Department reported that the incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. local time when a 2005 Lincoln Grand Marquis driven by 38-year-old Katera Johnson was traveling westbound on Old Hickory Boulevard. Johnson attempted to make a left turn and was struck on the passenger side by a 2019 Honda Accord.
Emergency responders arrived to find the Lincoln overturned. Miller, who was seated in the front passenger seat, was pronounced dead at the scene. Johnson was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Honda Accord, 25-year-old Eddie McGee, was also taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries that are not considered life-threatening, authorities said.
The crash remains under investigation by the Nashville Police Department and Tennessee Highway Patrol. Officials are examining whether speed, driver impairment, or other factors contributed to the collision. Old Hickory Boulevard, a heavily trafficked east-west artery in north Nashville, was temporarily closed for several hours as investigators documented the scene and cleared debris.
Nashville residents and commuters are advised to exercise caution in the area of Zermatt Avenue and Old Hickory Boulevard while the investigation continues. The intersection is known for high traffic volumes, especially during morning and evening commute hours, increasing the risk of collisions if drivers fail to yield or misjudge turns.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol and Nashville authorities have not released any further information regarding potential citations or charges against the drivers involved. Anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to contact the Nashville Police Department’s traffic division.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities plan to issue an update once more details are confirmed.
