Actor Peter Greene Found Dead Friday in Manhattan Apartment

NEW YORK CITY, NY. (THECOUNT) — Peter Greene, an actor best known for portraying villainous characters in films including Pulp Fiction and The Mask, has died. Greene was 60.

Greene was found dead Friday in his Manhattan apartment, according to his manager, Gregg Edwards. Edwards confirmed the death to reporters and said Greene’s body was discovered after a neighbor became concerned when music was heard playing continuously throughout the night. When the neighbor received no response after knocking, police were contacted.

Authorities conducted a wellness check and found Greene deceased inside the apartment. No cause of death has been released, and officials have not indicated whether foul play is suspected. The New York Daily News was the first outlet to report Greene’s death.

Born in Montclair, New Jersey, in October 1965, Greene later moved to New York City, where he pursued acting in his 20s. According to IMDb, he landed his first on-screen role in 1990 with an appearance on the NBC crime drama Hardball. His feature film debut followed in 1992 with Laws of Gravity, in which he appeared alongside Edie Falco.

Greene gained wider recognition for his work in the mid-1990s, frequently portraying intense and antagonistic characters. One of his most notable roles came in Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 film Pulp Fiction, where he appeared as Zed. He later worked with director Bryan Singer in the 1995 psychological crime drama The Usual Suspects.

Additional film credits include appearances in Kiss & Tell (1997), Blue Streak (1999), and Training Day (2001), in which he appeared opposite Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke. Greene’s career spanned more than three decades and included work in film, television, and independent productions.

According to his IMDb profile, Greene most recently appeared on screen in a 2025 episode of the television series Dope Thief. He also had several projects listed as in development at the time of his death.

Outside of acting, Greene was involved in documentary work. He was co-producing and serving as a narrator for a project titled From the American People: The Withdrawal of USAID, which focused on global deaths linked to the dismantling of the U.S. Agency for International Development during the Trump administration. No further details about the project’s status were released.

Greene is survived by a sister and a brother. No information regarding funeral arrangements or memorial services has been made public.

The circumstances surrounding Greene’s death remain under investigation, and authorities have not released additional details.
