LA Man Terrence Henry ID’d As Suicide During Warrant Service In Marrero Monday

MARRERO, LA. (THECOUNT) — Terrence Henry, 27, was identified Monday as the man who died by suicide during an encounter with U.S. Marshals in Marrero, Louisiana, according to the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office. Authorities confirmed that Henry’s death occurred as federal agents attempted to serve an arrest warrant at a home on Constantine Drive.

Officials stated that U.S. Marshals were at the residence to serve Henry with a warrant connected to a charge of domestic abuse battery – child endangerment. The nature of the underlying case has not been detailed publicly, and no further information regarding the circumstances of the charge has been released.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Marshals Service said that after deputies arrived at the home, Henry’s family exited the residence first. Shortly afterward, a gunshot was heard from inside the house. According to a source familiar with the incident, it does not appear that law enforcement discharged a weapon at any point during the encounter.

Authorities later determined that Henry died by suicide. No additional injuries were reported at the scene, and officials have not released information regarding how many individuals were present inside the home at the time of the shooting beyond Henry’s family members initially coming out as marshals arrived.

The Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office confirmed Henry’s identity and manner of death but did not release further findings from the preliminary investigation. A full report, including autopsy details, is expected to be completed in accordance with standard procedures, though no timeline has been provided.

The attempted warrant service took place in a residential area of Marrero on the West Bank of Jefferson Parish, several miles outside of New Orleans. Law enforcement activity remained in the neighborhood for a period Monday afternoon as investigators processed the scene and gathered statements. No further law enforcement actions were reported at the residence following Henry’s death.

Federal officials have not indicated whether body camera footage, witness interviews, or any additional evidence will be released. At this time, authorities have only confirmed the sequence of events leading to the fatal gunshot and have stated that no shots were fired by marshals. The U.S. Marshals Service has not announced whether the incident will be reviewed under internal procedures, which typically occur after any fatality associated with a law enforcement operation.

Henry’s family has not issued any public statements regarding the incident, and no additional personal details about Henry were released by authorities. No information has been provided about prior interactions, if any, between Henry and law enforcement beyond the outstanding warrant.

Law enforcement agencies and public officials often highlight the availability of crisis support services when incidents involving self-harm occur. If you or someone you know is struggling or in need of assistance, help is available 24/7 through the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988. The service connects individuals with trained counselors who can provide immediate support and guidance.

As of the latest update, federal authorities have not released additional information regarding the domestic abuse battery – child endangerment charge, whether further investigative steps will be taken, or whether any follow-up actions will occur related to the attempted warrant service. The Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office has also not confirmed when more detailed findings may be available.
