WEST HAVEN, CT. (THECOUNT) — 47-year-old Jaymie Marazzi Taylor, of West Haven, Connecticut, tragically lost her life after being struck by a motorcycle while crossing the street on Sunday night. The incident took place around 10 p.m. in the vicinity of 277 Campbell Ave.
Upon arriving at the scene, West Haven police established that Taylor had been hit by a northbound motorcycle on Campbell Avenue. Following the collision, the motorcycle lost control, causing the driver to dump the bike onto its side where it slid before finally stopping. Taylor was immediately transported to a local hospital but, unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries there.
The driver of the motorcycle was also taken to the hospital, where they remain in critical condition as of Monday morning.
Due to the severity of the accident, Campbell Avenue was closed between Walnut Street and Atwater Street for approximately six hours to allow for emergency response and the initial stages of the investigation.
The West Haven Police Major Accident Squad was summoned to the crash site and has taken over the investigation to determine the exact circumstances leading to this fatal incident.
