NC Woman Dawn Tucker ID’d As Victim In Saturday Fatal Crash Nathane Blackmon Wrong-Way Driver

DURHAM, NC. (THECOUNT) — Dawn Tucker, 67, of Durham, has been identified as the victim killed in a wrong-way crash in Durham, North Carolina Saturday evening. The tragic incident, which left three others injured, occurred shortly before 7 p.m., according to Durham Police. Nathane Blackmon has been identified as the involved wrong-way driver.

Authorities reported that 42-year-old Blackmon, of Erwin was driving a 2011 GMC Yukon northbound on N. Roxboro Street when the vehicle crossed all travel lanes into oncoming traffic. The Yukon collided with Tucker’s southbound 2009 Honda Accord and a 2000 Chevy Silverado, also traveling south.

Tucker, a retired school teacher, was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. A passenger in her vehicle sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was also hospitalized.

Blackmon suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital. He has been charged with driving while impaired (DWI), left of center, and failure to wear a seatbelt. Authorities have indicated that additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.

The driver of the Chevy Silverado sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.
