PA Doctor Kenneth Fox Arrested After Year-Long Probe into Prescription Practices

LEVITTOWN, PA. (THECOUNT) — In a shocking turn of events, Dr. Kenneth Fox, aged 55, from Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, who was once a resident of Newtown Township, found himself in handcuffs. The Bucks County DA’s office slapped him with 12 counts for allegedly the improper handling of controlled substances and for falsifying records. They didn’t stop there; he also faces three counts of planning to distribute these substances illegally.

The saga began when whispers of Fox’s allegedly shady dealings reached the ears of Middletown Township police back in November 2023. They passed the hot potato to Bucks County Detectives, who dove into the murky waters of Fox’s medical practice.

Fox, who used to be a respected physician in Levittown, Middletown Township, didn’t let his dismissal from Jefferson Health stop him. He set up shop in a basement off Frosty Hollow Road and Veterans Highway, where he allegedly saw patients without appointments, taking payments through mobile apps like a modern-day rogue trader.

Imagine this: patients waiting in a basement hallway, paying $130 for a quick meet-up where they’d walk away with Suboxone prescriptions – often without any real medical dialogue. This was the scene described by investigators in their court documents.

Undercover operations in early 2024 exposed Fox’s practices further. Detectives and informants got prescriptions from him, noting how he left doors open, allowing eavesdropping on his lack of medical discourse.

The Pennsylvania Prescription Drug Monitor Program revealed Fox had been prescribing Suboxone to 80 patients during this period. A search warrant executed on June 24 unveiled a mess of incomplete patient files, with Fox apparently relying on memory over documentation.

Dr. Stephen Thomas, an expert in pain management, reviewed the chaos left behind. His verdict? “Fox was selling prescriptions, not practicing medicine,” he stated.

This isn’t Fox’s first brush with legal trouble. Back in 2022, he was hit with a hefty $489,025 fine for numerous violations related to controlled substances. Following this, he was under strict compliance obligations for three years, but it seems the lesson didn’t stick.

Fox, who’s been a family doctor in Levittown since 1999 according to his LinkedIn, now sits in Bucks County Correctional Facility. His bail is set at 10% of $75,000, as decided by District Judge Charles Jonas.

Levittown is a census-designated place and planned community in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The population was 52,699 at the 2020 census, down from 52,983 at the 2010 census. Levittown is 40 feet above sea level.
