MI Brothers Killed in Holland Police Chase Following Sunday Morning Shooting Incident

HOLLAND, MI. (THECOUNT) — The Holland Department of Public Safety (HDPS) has identified two brothers who tragically lost their lives early Sunday morning following a high-speed police chase that ended in a deadly crash. Authorities confirmed that the victims were 26-year-old Alfredo Mojica Majin and 21-year-old Bryan Mojica, both from Holland, Michigan.

Fatal Incident Unfolds:

According to the HDPS, the incident began around 2:25 a.m. on Sunday when officers were dispatched to the Speedway gas station at 800 Washington Avenue in response to a reported fight. While an officer approached the scene, he noticed a silver-colored vehicle, which was later confirmed to be driven by Alfredo Majin, speeding away from the area. Notably, the vehicle had its headlights off and was heading westbound on 33rd Street.

As the vehicle sped off, multiple gunshots were heard, which the officer believed were fired from the fleeing car. This prompted a police pursuit of the vehicle, which continued westbound until it tragically crashed into a tree at a location where 32nd Street becomes South Shore Drive, just outside the city limits of Holland.

The violent impact of the crash claimed the lives of both Alfredo Majin and Bryan Mojica instantly. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the two men deceased in the wrecked vehicle.

Evidence of Gunfire:

After the crash, investigators discovered a pistol inside the vehicle, as well as four spent shell casings on the grass near 33rd Street, west of the Speedway gas station. These findings suggested that gunshots had indeed been fired from the vehicle before the chase commenced. However, no shooting victims were located at the scene where the gunfire was initially heard, leaving authorities puzzled about the intended target of the shots.

At this time, HDPS officials have not determined who or what the suspects were firing at, and they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Investigation Ongoing:

The tragic deaths of the two brothers have sent shockwaves through the Holland community, as investigators work to piece together the full story of what led to the fatal events. Police have not yet provided additional details regarding the fight that reportedly occurred at the gas station or whether the Mojica brothers were directly involved in that altercation.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward. Holland police can be reached at 616.355.1150, and tips can also be submitted via email at policetips@cityofholland.com. Additionally, anonymous tips may be provided through Silent Observer at 1.877.887.4536.

Community Reaction:

As word of the tragedy spread, the tight-knit community of Holland has been left to mourn the loss of two young lives cut short. The Mojica brothers were well-known in the area, and news of their untimely deaths has deeply affected friends and neighbors. The crash site has since become a place where community members have left flowers and other tributes in memory of the two men.

HDPS Statement:

The Holland Department of Public Safety is continuing its investigation and has stated that, at this time, no other suspects have been identified in connection with the shooting or the crash. “This is a tragic situation, and our thoughts are with the families of those involved,” a spokesperson for the department said in a brief statement to local media.

The tragic deaths of Alfredo Mojica Majin and Bryan Mojica serve as a grim reminder of the potential consequences of violent and reckless behavior. The HDPS is working diligently to ensure that justice is served and that the full circumstances of the incident are uncovered.

Call for Information:

As the investigation continues, HDPS is urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything related to the events of early Sunday morning to contact authorities. The public’s assistance could be crucial in helping law enforcement determine what led to the fatal police chase and whether any additional individuals were involved.

Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to HDPS at 616.355.1150 or via email at policetips@cityofholland.com. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Silent Observer at 1.877.887.4536.
