SUFFOLK, VA. (THECOUNT) — Suffolk Police have identified the victims in a fatal shooting that occurred late Thursday night, September 12, 2024. William Eugene Goodman Jr., 37, and Demonte Lamont Tillery, 30, both of Suffolk, were killed in the incident. Three other individuals—a woman and two men—were transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooting took place around 11:25 p.m. in the 800 block of East Washington Street. Upon receiving a call, officers from the Suffolk Police Department arrived at the scene and discovered multiple individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded promptly, providing medical care to the injured victims.
Goodman was pronounced dead at the scene, while Tillery was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The three survivors were rushed to a local hospital and are currently receiving treatment for unknown gunshot injuries.
Ongoing Investigation:
Police Chief Buie extended his condolences to the families of the victims, stating, “Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time.” The Suffolk Police Department is actively investigating the incident and has not yet released any details regarding potential suspects or motives.
