SALT LAKE CITY, UT. (THECOUNT) — Authorities have identified the two people killed in a crash on state Route 132 in Utah’s Sanpete County as Braden Christiansen, 27, and Caitlin Edmunds, 26, both residents of Chester.
The fatal crash occurred on Monday just before midnight in Chester, involving three vehicles near milepost 61, according to the Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS). DPS reported that a Dodge Intrepid, operated by Christiansen, had slowed to make a left turn into a residence when a Ford F250 traveling behind it failed to slow down. The pickup truck struck the rear of the Dodge, pushing it into the path of an oncoming Toyota Corolla.
Both Christiansen and Edmunds, who was a passenger in the Dodge, died at the scene.
The two occupants of the Toyota and the driver of the Ford were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, according to DPS.
The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
