RIPLEY COUNTY, IN. (THECOUNT) — Ann Back, of Brookville, Indiana, has been identified as the victim in a Tuesday night fatal incident involving a fallen tree and a vehicle in Ripley County.
Ann Back, 53, was killed and her husband Timothy Back was injured, after the pair were attempting to move a tree that had fallen in the roadway in Sunman Tuesday night. Ryan Giltner has been identified as the involved driver.
According to reports, the couple exited a vehicle on St. Marys Road near CR-1500 N. in Sunman, in an attempt to move a tree that had fallen in the roadway around 10 p.m. Tuesday. At some point, a Kia passenger vehicle, operated by Giltner, 28, Brookville, came into contact with the tree and the couple.
Tim Back and Giltner suffered minor injuries in the incident.
Ann was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
The investigation into the cause of the fatal incident is ongoing.
