OKLAHOMA COUNTY, OK. (THECOUNT) — Nathan Nguyen and Kaleb Newport have been identified as the teenagers killed in a Sunday vehicle crash in southwest Oklahoma County.

Nguyen and Newport, both 18 and students at Westmoore High School, were killed in a single-vehicle crash in Oklahoma Sunday morning.

According to reports, the teens were traveling in a vehicle near Southwest 119th Street and South Rockwell Avenue in Oklahoma City, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle exited the roadway before coming into contact with a tree Sunday morning.

Both Newport and Nguyen were pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.

A front seat passenger was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.

Moore Public Schools released the following statement:

On April 30, 2023, Moore Public Schools was notified that two of our students passed away in an auto accident. They will be deeply missed by the Westmoore Jaguar family. Another student is at OU Medical Center, but specifics about his status are unknown.

MPS has its 14 Mental Health Team therapists and counselors at WHS today to support our students and employees. We send our heartfelt condolences to all of our families that are hurting over these tremendous losses.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
