CALEDONIA COUNTY, VT. (THECOUNT) — Richard Wanstall, of Marblehead, Massachusetts, has been identified as the victim in a Saturday fatal cycling race crash in Caledonia County, Vermont.
Rick Wanstall, 54, was killed while participating in a bicycle race in Burke on Saturday morning.
According to reports, Wanstall was operating a bicycle on Brook Road near Carter Road in Burke, when for unknown reasons, the bike crossed into opposing lanes and came into contact with a pick-up truck around 9:20 a.m. Saturday.
Wantall was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead ofb blunt force trauma injuries.
State Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.
The cause of the deadly incident remains under investigation.
