ANDERSON COUNTY, SC. (THECOUNT) — Reenan Jamal Smith, of Maryland, has been identified as the victim in a Saturday night fatal shooting in Anderson County, South Carolina.
Smith, 35, who also had ties to The Bronx, New York, was fatally shot in Anderson Saturday night.
According to reports, police responded to the area of Tribble Street and North Murray Avenue in Anderson, on a call of shots fired around 8:40 p.m. Saturday. When they arrived, Smith was found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Smith was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.
According to officials, Smith arrived from New York on Saturday to visit family members and was involved in a domestic altercation with someone he knew. His death was ruled a homicide, coroner says.
No suspect information was provided as of Sunday morning.
The cause of the deadly incident remains under investigation.
