ORANGE COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — John Allore, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, has been identified as the victim in a Thursday fatal bicycle crash in Orange County.
Allore, 59, was killed in a bicycle collision involving a vehicle Thursday morning in Durham. The involved driver, Karen Denisse Maldonado, 26, of Efland, was arrested at the scene.
According to reports, Allore was operating a bicycle on Bradshaw Quarry Road near Orange Grove Road in Efland, when he was struck by a Toyota sedan operated by Maldonado around 7 a.m. Thursday.
Allore, who was on his way to work as Durham’s city budget director, was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries suffered in the collision.
Maldonado was arrested and charged with failure to reduce speed to include misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
