MECKLENBURG COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Kendall Ross and his wife, Lillian Hennes, have been identified as the victims in a Saturday fatal vehicle crash involving a suspected impaired driver in Mecklenburg County.
Ross, 29, was killed, and his wife, a former third grade teacher, was critically injured in a Saturday night Charlotte two-vehicle crash. Alejandro Gomez, 23, has been identified as the other involved DUI driver.
According to reports, Ross was operating a Hyundai on Central Avenue near Briar Creek Road in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood of Charlotte, when a speeding and impaired Nissan Sentra driver came into contact with the Hyundai on Saturday.
Ross, a corporate executive chef and a touring chef for singers Ed Sheeran and Rod Stewart, was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
Hennes was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Ross recently helmed a kitchen for the Masters Tournament at the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, according to his Instagram.
Gomez and his passenger were transported to an area hospital with minor injuries, according to CMPD.
Gomez was arrested and charged with assault with deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, felony death by vehicle and reckless driving, according to CMPD.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
