NEW HAVEN COUNTY, CT. (THECOUNT) — Denisse Acosta, of Meriden, Connecticut, has been identified as the victim in a Sunday fatal vehicle crash in New Haven County.

Acosta, 53, was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Meriden early Sunday morning. The other involved driver has been identified as 31-year-old Johnathan Reyes, of Meriden.

According to reports, Acosta was operating an Acura on the 100 block of Main Street in South Meriden, when another Acura – operated by Reyes – struck Acosta’s vehicle on the driver side door around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Acosta was attempting to pull in a driveway when she was struck, officials say.

Acosta was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.

Reyes was not injured and refused medical treatment.

It is unclear if anyone was cited at the scene.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
