DELAWARE COUNTY, NY. (THECOUNT) — Jacob Merrill, of Redford, New York, has been identified as the victim in a Monday fatal snowmobile crash in Delaware County.
Merrill, 25, was killed after the snowmobile he was operating crashed near Owls Head in Franklin on Monday afternoon.
According to reports, Merrill was operating a snowmobile on a Franklin Corridor 7 trail, when for unknown reasons, he was ejected after coming into contact with a pole around 2 p.m. Monday.
Merrill was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
State police were assisted by multiple departments including Owls Head Mountain and Duane fire and rescue as well as Department of Environmental Conservation Police and Forest Rangers.
