PREBLE COUNTY, OH. (THECOUNT) — Michael J. Toschlog, of New Paris, Ohio, has been identified as the victim in a Sunday night fatal tractor crash in Preble County.

Toschlog, 41, was killed, and his 7-year-old son Johnny was injured, in a Sunday night farm tractor wreck in New Paris.

According to reports, Toschlog was operating a 1970 John Deere tractor on the 4300 block of Crubaugh Road in New Paris, when the vehicle malfunctioned and exited the roadway around 6 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle then entered a culvert and rolled over, trapping Toschlog and his 7-year-old passenger.

Deputies believed the front two tractor tires malfunctioned causing the wreck.

Toschlog, who was trapped for over 30 minutes, was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.

Little Johnny was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Preble County Sheriff’s Office and the Preble County Coroner’s Office.
