JEFFERSON COUNTY, KY. (THECOUNT) — Zachee Imanitwitaho, of Louisville, Kentucky, has been identified as the transgender woman who was fatally shot at the Jefferson County JBS plant on Friday.
Imanitwitaho, 26, was fatally shot at the meat wholesaler plant in Louisville Friday afternoon. Edilberto Reyes, 59, turned himself after confessing to pulling the trigger in the fatal shooting.
According to reports, the deadly incident occurred around 3:20 p.m. Friday in the parking lot area of the JBS plant on the 1300 block of Story Avenue in the Butchertown area of Louisville.
Imanitwitaho, who worked with Reyes at the plant, was pronounced dead of gunshot injuries at the scene.
A motive in the killing was not provided by officials.
JBS USA provided a statement following Friday’s shooting:
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of one of our Louisville team members that took place outside of our facility this afternoon. Our sincere condolences go out to the individual’s family and loved ones. We are assisting police with the ongoing investigation however we can.”
