FRANKLIN COUNTY, AL. (THECOUNT) — Melanie Humphries McKinney, of Red Bay, Alabama, has been identified as the victim in a Sunday morning fatal vehicle crash in Franklin County.
McKinney, 48, was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Red Bay Sunday morning.
According to reports, McKinney was operating a Mercedes SLK 300 on Alabama 247 about 6 miles northeast of Red Bay, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle exited the roadway around 5:30 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle then came into contact with an embankment and a tree.
McKinney was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
