NEW YORK, NY. (THECOUNT) — Lashawn Mackey, of Brooklyn, New York, has been identified as the suspect arrested in the brutal killing of 74-year-old Maria Hernandez on Wednesday.
Mackey 47, was taken into custody and charged him with murder, attempted murder, and burglary in connection to the death of Hernandez on Wednesday.
Hernandez was found “unconscious and unresponsive” inside an apartment on West 83rd Street, with her hands and feet tied. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A cause of death was not provided.
A motive in the killing has not yet been provided.
