ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, VA. (THECOUNT) — Aonesty Marie Selby has been identified as the body found Friday in a remote area in Isle of Wight County, Virginia.

Selby, who had celebrated her 18th birthday on Monday, had been reported missing by family members on Friday, Jan. 13, because they had not heard from her since Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023.

According to reports, police responded to a call of a body found on a dirt logging path on Blue Ridge Trail in Windsor on Friday.

Selby is believed to have been to be in the company of several individuals just before her death.

A cause or manner of death was not provided.

Selby’s remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Norfolk for an autopsy.

Investigators with the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office say they are launching a suspicious death investigation and ask members of the community to come forward.
