TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, AL. (THECOUNT) — Kevonta Hayward Jackson, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, has been identified as the driver in a Friday police pursuit crash that claimed the life of his 15-year-old female passenger.
Jackson, 19, fled police during a routine traffic stop in Tuscaloosa Friday morning.
According to reports, police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Ford Taurus at 13th Street East and 15th Avenue East in Tuscaloosa on Friday morning. The driver refused to pull over and a chase ensued.
At some point during the chase, the Ford exited the roadway and collided with a grouping of trees in the area of Tamaha Trace around 4 a.m. Friday.
A teen female passenger was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene. ALEA officials do not identify juvenile victims.
Jackson was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by ALEA Highway Patrol Division.
