WISE COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Athena Strand has been identified as the young girl kidnapped by Fedex delivery driver Tanner Lynn Horner on Wednesday. The body of 7-year-old Strand was found Friday in Wise County, Texas.
Horner, 31, was arrested after leading police to the body of the girl who was reported missing from her home in Paradise, Texas on Wednesday.
Horner was arrested on kidnapping and murder charges after confessing to killing the girl and telling authorities where to find her body, according to Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin.
According to officials, Horner made a delivery to the girl’s home shortly before she disappeared.
The girl’s stepmother had reported her missing on Wednesday from the family home near Paradise on the northwestern outskirts of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.
Her body was found near the small town of Boyd, about 6 miles southeast of Paradise. A cause of death was not provided by officials.
Horner remained jailed Saturday on $1.5 million bond. Jail records did not list an attorney who could speak on his behalf.
