IREDELL COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Patrick Calhoun Mays, of Davidson, North Carolina, has been identified as the victim in a Monday night vehicle collision in Iredell County.

Mays, 66, was killed and his wife Rebecca and a 15-year-old passenger were injured in a Mooresville two-vehicle crash involving a semi-tractor, operated by Oleg Polishchuk, of Harrisonburg, Virginia.

According to reports, Polishchuk, 52, was operating a semi-tractor on Interstate 77 near the Langtree Road exit in Mooresville, when the vehicle came into contact with a Ford Focus stopped in heavy traffic around 6 p.m. Monday.

Patrick Mays was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Rebecca, 56, and the teen were transported to an area hospital in unknown condition.

Polishchuk, who was not injured in the wreck, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to reduce speed. He received a $15,000 secured bond.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
