ALBANY COUNTY, NY. (THECOUNT) — Kyreem Softleigh Jr., of Albany, New York, has been identified as the victim in a Friday night fatal vehicle crash involving a police chase in Albany County. Caezare Ebron, of Albany, was arrested after being accused of causing the deadly crash.

Softleigh, 26, aka musician “Jvst Kigh,” was killed after the vehicle in which he was traveling was struck by Ebron, 35, who was fleeing police in Albany Friday night.

According to reports, police approached a stopped vehicle in the area of Bradford Street and Ontario Street in Albany, on reports of a sleeping driver around 10:15 p.m. Friday. When police attempted to arouse the driver, he suddenly sped off.

Ebron ran a stop sign and came into contact with a vehicle carrying three people. He then fled the vehicle on-foot. He was apprehended a short time later. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Softleigh, a passenger in the involved vehicle, was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.

The other passengers were transported to area hospitals to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Ebron if facing the following charges:

Unlicensed operator
Leaving the scene of a personal injury auto accident
Fail to stop for a stop sign
Impudent speed
Operating without an ignition interlock device (required from DWI arrest in April 2021)

He is currently being evaluated at the hospital for injuries he sustained during the crash and is scheduled to be arraigned by an Albany City Court judge.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and more charges may be pending.
