LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — Jerome Johnson and Dillon Slaughter, both of Geismar, Louisiana, have been identified as the victims in a Saturday double-fatal vehicle crash in Livingston Parish.
Johnson, 52, and 27-year-old Slaughter, were both killed in a single-vehicle crash in Denham Springs early Saturday.
According to reports, Johnson was operating a Toyota Corolla on LA-16 near Vincent Road in Denham Springs, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle exited the roadway and came into contact with a telephone pole around 12:30 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle then burst into flames.
Johnson was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma and thermal injuries at the scene.
Slaughter was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of injuries suffered in the wreck.
A third involved passenger was not identified.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
