LAUREL COUNTY, KY. (THECOUNT) — Casey P. Byrd, 36, of Oneida, Tennessee, has been identified as the suspect arrested Sunday following a fatal vehicle crash involving an on-duty Kentucky police officer.
London PD Officer Logan K. Medlock, 26, of Keavy, Kentucky, has been identified as the on-duty officer killed in a two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Laurel County, Kentucky.
According to reports, Byrd was operating a Ram Pickup Truck on South Main Street near Barbourville Street in London, when the vehicle came into contact with a Dodge Charger Police Cruiser operated by Officer Medlock around 12:50 a.m. Sunday.
Officer Medlock was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the senne.
Byrd was not injured in the collision.
Mr. Byrd was arrested and charged with:

Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 1st Aggravating Circumstance
Mr. Byrd was transported to the Laurel County Correctional Center.
The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is continuing the investigation. They were assisted at the scene by Post 11 personnel, the London Police Department, Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, Laurel County EMS, London City Fire Department, London ECO Tech, Laurel County Fire Department, and the Laurel County Coroner’s office.
