PHILADELPHIA COUNTY, PA. (THECOUNT) — One student athlete was killed and at least two other football players were wounded in a shooting following a football scrimmage at Roxborough High School in Philadelphia late Tuesday afternoon, police said.
A 14-year-old male student died at the hospital after he was shot in the chest while walking off the field Tuesday afternoon with his teammates. Two other students, believed to also be football players, suffered non-fatal gunshot wounds. A fourth individual suffered unknown injuries.
According to reports, the teens were exiting the Roxborough High School field, when suspects in a Ford Explorer SUV opened fire around 4:40 p.m. Tuesday.
One teen was transported to an area hospital where he later died as a result of gunshot injuries.
Another 14-year-old was transported with gunshot injuries to his left thigh. A 17-year-old was shot in his right arm and three times in his left leg. The injured students were said to be in stable condition.
The fourth victim, whose age was not immediately available, was transported to an area hospital. His condition was not made available.
