YORK COUNTY, NH. (THECOUNT) — Tyler Woodburn, of Newmarket, New Hampshire, has been identified as the victim in a Wednesday night fatal police-involved shooting in York County, Maine.
Woodburn, 30, was fatally shot during an encounter with a York County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Wednesday night in North Waterboro.
According to reports, officers responded to a call of a disturbance at a home on Rosemont Avenue in North Waterboro around 6:50 p.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, a struggle ensued with Woodburn as police attempted to take him into custody. At some point, shots were fired by Deputy Levi Johnson.
Woodburn was pronounced dead at the scene of gunshot injuries.
Officials did not disclose the nature of the disturbance or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Deputy Johnson is on administrative leave, as is standard protocol for all police involved shootings.
