PEARL RIVER COUNTY, MS. (THECOUNT) — Gail Fontenot and Jose Cardenas, both of Picayune, Mississippi, have been identified as the victims in a Friday double-fatal vehicle crash in Pearl River County.
Fontenot, 35, and 29-year-old Cardenas, were killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday night near Picayune.

According to reports, Fontenot was operating a Chevrolet Silverado on Highway 11, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle exited the roadway and came into contact with a substantial tree around 11:30 p.m. Friday.
Fontenot and her passenger Cardenas were killed as a result of injuries suffered in the wreck.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
