ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO. (THECOUNT) — Paul Atherton, of O’Fallon, Missouri, has been identified as the victim in a Wednesday night fatal motorcycle crash in St. Charles County.

Atherton, 53, was killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in Boone Township Wednesday night.

According to reports, Atherton was operating a Harley Davidson Ultra Limited motorcycle on Highway N near Meadow Woods Lane in Foristell, when for unknown reasons, the bike crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Atherton, who was ejected from the bike, was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

According to social media, Atherton worked at The Boeing Company as a System Support Technologist. He was a former Avionics Technician at U.S. Navy. He graduated from Devils Lake High School. He lived in Dardenne Prairie, Missouri, Florissant, Missouri and Oviedo, Florida. He was originally from Devils Lake, North Dakota. He leaves behind his wife Paulette Atherton and two children.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
