MIDDLESEX COUNTY, MA. (THECOUNT) — Devin Arroyo, of Taunton, Massachusetts, has been identified as the driver in a Wednesday morning wrong-way crash in Middlesex County.

Arroyo, 29, suffered minor injuries and an Infiniti driver was killed in a three-vehicle wrong-way crash in Hopkinton early Wednesday.

According to reports, Arroyo was under the influence while operating a Ford Transit SUV the wrong-way on Interstate 495 near Exit 58 in Hopkinton, when the vehicle came into head-on contact with an Infiniti vehicle just after midnight Wednesday. A tractor-trailer then came into contact with the Infiniti.

Arroyo was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

The Infiniti driver, who was not yet identified, was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma at an area hospital.

The semi driver was uninjured in the collision.

Arroyo was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, resulting in him being put in custody at the hospital for OUI, according to officials.

Further charges may be filed in the case.

The investigation is ongoing.

In June 2020, Arroyo was arrested in Farmington for his participation in a stabbing of a man and the assault of a grandfather at Beaver Park. At the time, Arroyo was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife). Police additionally charged Arroyo and William Cosme with assault and battery on a person 60 or older, and a second count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (brass knuckles).
