WYANDOTTE COUNTY, KS. (THECOUNT) — Chris Mcclellan of Columbus, North Carolina, has been identified as the pedestrian killed in a multi-vehicle crash Sunday night in Wyandotte County, Kansas.

Mcclellan, 42, was killed in a three-vehicle chain-reaction crash in Kansas City Sunday night.

According to reports, a driver of a Honda Civic was traveling on Interstate 70 near Interstate 635, when the vehicle came into contact with the open rear door of a stopped Ford Transit Van around 6:30 Sunday. The flying door of the van then struck Mcclellan who was on-foot. A BMW X5 M then struck the door which had landed in the roadway.

Mcclellan was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.

The driver of the Honda was also transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.

No one in the BMW was injured.

It is unclear if Mcclellan had been traveling in the van.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
