MCHENRY COUNTY, IL. (THECOUNT) — Thomas Dobosz of Rolling Meadows, Illinois, who was involving in the crash with wrong-way driver, Jennifer Fernandez, in northern Illinois, has passed away from injuries suffered in the fiery crash on Sunday.
Thomas, 32, died in a hospital after a van he was operating carrying his wife, Lauren, his four children, and teenage family friend around 2 a.m. Sunday, was struck by a vehicle operated by 22-year-old Fernandez.
Fernandez, of Carpentersville, Illinois, was identified as the wrong-way driver in a fiery crash on Interstate 90 in McHenry County early Sunday.
Fernandez was driving the wrong-way on Interstate 90 in Marengo when the vehicle stuck a van killing five young people and a woman, identified as, Lauren Dobosz, 31, of Rolling Meadows.
According to reports, Fernandez was driving the wrong-way on I-90 near Milepost 33.5 in Marengo, when the vehicle came into head-on contact with a van around 2:10 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle then burst into flames.
Passengers killed on the scene were identified as mother, Lauren Dobosz, two 13-year-old girls, a 7-year-old boy, a 6-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl.
Fernandez also died in the crash.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
