LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CA. (THECOUNT) — An elderly Los Angeles County, California woman, who was found dead in her ransacked home on Tuesday night, had been set on fire, according to officials.
The 81-year-old woman, who has not been identified, was found deceased in her Woodland Hills home in an apparent home invasion Tuesday night.
According to reports, a family member of the victim called for a welfare check at a home in the 208000 block of Martha Street near Burbank Blvd in Woodland Hills around 7:50 p.m. Tuesday night. When police arrived, a woman was found dead in a bedroom.
Police noted the home had been ransacked and that the victim had been “set on fire.”
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police found evidence of forced entry and LAPD is treating the victim’s death as a homicide.
No suspect information was provided.
