CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA. (THECOUNT) — Briana Marie Day, of Concord, California, has been identified as the suspect in a deadly double-pedestrian vehicle strike Saturday in Contra Costa County.

“Brie” Day, 28, was the driver arrested on charges of suspicion of driving under the influence causing injury, and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated after police say she hit two pedestrians, one fatally, in Walnut Creek early Saturday morning.

According to reports, Day was operating a pickup truck on Pine Street and Main Street in Walnut Creek, when the vehicle came into contact with two pedestrians around 1:50 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle then came into contact with a cement pillar.

One of the pedestrians was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was transported to an area hospital with major injuries.

Jail records show Day was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility and was being held in lieu of $400,000 bail.
