FRANKLIN COUNTY, VA. (THECOUNT) — Erin Sheree Jones, of Wirtz, Virginia, has been identified as the victim in a Wednesday fatal vehicle crash in Franklin County.
Jones, 45, died in a single-vehicle crash near Hardy Wednesday morning.
According to reports, Jones was operating a Honda Civic on Jubal Early Highway near Silver Lake Road, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday. The vehicle then came into contact with a substantial tree.
Jones was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
