SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA. (THECOUNT) — Tayishe Ann Baltys, of San Diego, California, has been identified as the driver suspected of driving impaired Wednesday when she struck and killed a stepfather and his teenage daughter in National City.

Baltys, 43, was operating a Toyota Prius in National City when she allegedly fatally struck the 15-year-old girl and her stepfather, 39, in a suspected DUI crash Wednesday night.

Investigators suspect Baltys of being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the fatal collision near the intersection of East Plaza Boulevard and Harbison Avenue just before 10 p.m. Wednesday.

The teen was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries while her stepfather was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Authorities withheld their names of the victims pending family notification.

Baltys was booked into Las Colinas women’s jail in Santee, where she was being held on $500,000 bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Friday afternoon. She faces charges of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.
