JACKSON COUNTY, MO (THECOUNT) — Marianne Fortney of Raytown, Missouri, has been identified as the victim in a Thursday night fatal vehicle crash in Jackson County.
Fortney, 22, was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Raytown Thursday night.
According to reports, Fortney was operating a Honda Civic on Raytown Road near East 71st Terrace in Raytown, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes around 9:45 p.m. Thursday. The vehicle then came into head-on contact with an SUV.
Fortney was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.
The condition of the SUV driver was not provided.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
