FRANKLIN COUNTY, OH. (THECOUNT) — Allison McCort and Evan Friend, both of Canton, Ohio, have been identified as the victims in a Saturday night double-fatal Jeep crash involving a semi-tractor in Franklin County.
McCort, 18, and 25-year-old Friend, were both killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a big-rig near Mifflin Township Saturday night.
According to reports, the pair were traveling in a Jeep Liberty on I-71 near Columbus, when for unknown reasons, the Jeep crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes around 11:00 p.m. Saturday night.
The Jeep then came into contact with a Freightliner Cascadia semi-truck.
The Jeep then burst into flames.
McCort and Friend were killed in the crash.
Officers say the two occupants of the tractor-trailer were not injured.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
