WASHINGTON, DC. (THECOUNT) — Billionaire businessman Elon Musk has been on an absolute rocketship to superstar celebrity status after a string of high-profile blockbuster power moves, including but not limited to, his recent purchase of a large amount of Twitter stock.
Musk may have reached the pinnacle of business success and public admiration, but could he ever ascend to the top office of the United States as in President Musk? Sadly, the answer is a hard “no.”
According to the U.S. Constitution, in order to hold the office of President of the United States one must be a “Natural born citizen” of said United States.
Though the exact meaning of “natural born citizen” has been widely debated, it has only questioned whether one must be born in the U.S. proper, or merely have at least one parent who was a citizen.
Musk, 50, was born in South Africa. His father was from South Africa and his mother was from Canada. Musk is a naturalized citizen of the U.S. and therefore ineligible to hold the office.
