HARTFORD COUNTY, CT. (THECOUNT) — Jillian Hegarty, a Trinity College student, has been identified as the pedestrian in a fatal hit-and-run vehicle collision in Hartford County Thursday night.
Hegarty, 20, was killed and two other students were injured, after the trio were struck by an SUV in Hartford Thursday. The vehicle then fled the scene.
According to reports, Hegarty and two other students were on-foot in the area of New Britain Avenue near Henry Street in Hartford around 11:30 p.m., when they were struck by an SUV that fled the scene before officials arrived.
Hegarty and the other two students, a 19-year-old female and a 20-year-old female, were transported to area hospitals, where Hegarty was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.
The 19-year-old is listed in critical but stable condition. The 20-year-old was treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital.
Investigators say the crash was caught on camera.
Police are seeking for a gray 2004-2007 Volkswagen Touareg that will have a missing front license plate and bumper. The SUV also had a roof rack.
