DAVIDSON COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — An investigation is underway after two people were found dead at Pine Ridge Nursing Home & Rehab Center in Davidson County, North Carolina on Sunday.
According to reports, officers were asked to perform a welfare check at the facility Sunday when callers said they were unable to reach staff members by phone. When officers arrived to 706 Pineywood Rd, in Thomasville, first responders immediately determined that staffing was “inadequate” with one licensed practical nurse and two certified nursing assistants to care for the 98 patients at the site.
Officials then made the grim discovery of two nursing home residents dead. Two others were found to be in critical condition.
It’s unclear if the deaths were a result of neglect, natural or some other cause.
Police are waiting for the results of the autopsies.
