FRANKLIN COUNTY, VT. (THECOUNT) — Mark Van Buren, of Fairfax, Vermont, has been identified as the victim in a Wednesday night fatal vehicle crash in Franklin County.
Van Buren, 53, was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi-tractor near Sheldon Wednesday night.
According to reports, Van Buren was operating a vehicle on Vermont 105 in Sheldon, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. The vehicle then came into contact with a big-rig.
Van Buren, who was originally from Charleston, South Carolina, was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
It is unknown if the truck driver suffered any injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
