HIDALGO COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Louisiana National Guard Specialist Nashyra S. Whitaker, has been identified as the victim in a Sunday suspected DUI vehicle crash in Hidalgo County, Texas.
Whitaker, 23, was killed in a vehicle crash near McAllen, Texas on Sunday morning. 24-year-old Bianca Farmer was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.
According to reports, Whitaker was killed in a vehicle crash on North 23rd Street near West U.S. Business 83 in McAllen early Sunday morning. Farmer is charged with operating a vehicle while impaired.
It is unclear from local reporting if Whitaker was a passenger in vehicle with Farmer or if it was a two-vehicle crash.
According to the National Guard Public Affairs Office, Whitaker joined the Louisiana Army National Guard in 2019.
The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
