POLK COUNTY, FL. (THECOUNT) — Tanya Chewning and Curtis Handshoe, of Auburndale, Florida, have been identified as the victims in a Monday night double-fatal vehicle crash in Polk County.
Chewning, 45, and her 13-year-old grandson, were both killed in a two-vehicle crash near Winter Haven Monday night.
According to reports, Chewning was operating a vehicle on Highway 27 near Cypress Gardens Blvd in Winter Haven, when the vehicle came into contact with a Jeep Renegade, operated by 44-year-old Tiffany Liles of Lake Wales, around 7 p.m. Monday.
Chewning and Handshoe were pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
Liles and her 1-year-old granddaughter were transported to an area hospitals with minor injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
