FREDERICK COUNTY, MD. (THECOUNT) — Capt. Joshua Laird, of Engine 251, has been identified as the victim killed Wednesday while fighting a fire in Frederick County, Maryland.
Laird passed away at a Washington, DC area hospital after suffering injuries fighting a house fire in Ijamsville Wednesday afternoon.
According to Frederick County fire officials, Laird was injured while working a house fire in the 9500 block of Ball Road in Ijamsville Wednesday afternoon.
According to reports, Laird fell through the floor into the basement. Laird issued a ‘mayday,’ and a rescue operation was requested.
Laird was a 21-year veteran of the department.
